The Fountain of Polaris (ポラリスの泉 Porarisu no Izumi) is a magical place where the magical power of the stars is sheltered. The holy fountain bestows the magic of the stars to witches who possess inner potential, but when an incompetent witch goes there looking for that magic but is still unworthy to wield it, the fountain disappears before her eyes.
Description[]
The Fountain of Polaris is a sacred precinct that can only be accessed through the Big Dipper Arch, which is located in the north campus building of Luna Nova Magical Academy guarded by the magical creature, Arcas. The Fountain is at the end of a long, shining staircase in an alternate space covered with stars. The Fountain itself appears as a large sphere of glowing water where the experiences of anyone who has gone before it is reflected.

The Fountain of Polaris[]
When Akko began to doubt herself due to her constant failures in Luna Nova, she came to wonder if she could not have some hidden potential by remembering how she could use the Shiny Rod. Guided by one of her Chariot cards, Akko decides to go to the Fountain of Polaris to be recognized as a witch with a hidden radiance, taking advantage of the safety of the school because of the party they were performing. When she finally manages to reach the Big Dipper Arc, Akko asks the Fountain to give her the magical power of the stars. However, the Fountain shows Akko how Shiny Chariot did the same thing in the past, working and struggling in their studies to finally become worthy of the power of the Fountain. After the Fountain disappeared, Akko managed to understand the importance of working hard to be the witch she wants.
What You Will[]
Akko returns to the Fountain guided by the Shiny Rod. There, Akko asks it what it is that only she can do. The Fountain shows her images of how Chariot practiced her Metamorphosis Magic for the Samhain Festival, not because she was chosen as Moonlit Witch, but to give joy to everyone else, revealing at the same time the third Word of Arcturus: Arae Arhyra.

- Polaris, more commonly known as the North Star, is useful to navigators because it is a reliable indicator of True North. Polaris is located at the tip of the Big Dipper, eponymous to the arch from which the Fountain can be entered. The Big Dipper is an asterism (recognizable pattern) in Ursa Major. Likewise the Little Dipper is an asterism in Ursa Minor. The power of the stars can be transferred to the witch of hidden radiance through the Shiny Rod, which is styled on the Big Dipper.
